Terms of Service

These terms cover your use of verbatext.io, a transcription service operated by CastFox. By creating an account or uploading a file, you agree to them.

The service

Verbatext turns audio and video you provide into text, along with summaries, chapters, quotes and other insights. You can upload files or paste a direct link to a media file.

Your account

You are responsible for keeping your login secure and for activity under your account. Tell us promptly if you think it has been compromised.

Your content

You keep ownership of the files you upload and the transcripts produced from them. You grant us the limited permission needed to store and process your files so we can provide the service. You confirm you have the right to upload what you submit and to have it transcribed.

Acceptable use

  • Do not upload content you do not have the rights to, or that is unlawful.
  • Do not use the service to infringe others’ rights or privacy.
  • Do not attempt to disrupt, abuse or reverse-engineer the service.

Billing and credits

The first 5 minutes of any file are free. Beyond that, transcription is billed by the minute: one credit equals roughly one minute. You can buy credit packs or subscribe, paid through Stripe. Purchased credits do not expire. Except where the law requires otherwise, payments are non-refundable, but if something goes wrong, contact us and we will make it right.

Accuracy and availability

Automatic transcription is highly accurate but not perfect, and quality depends on the audio. The service is provided “as is”, without warranties, and we do not guarantee uninterrupted availability.

Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, Verbatext and CastFox are not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from your use of the service. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the prior three months.

Changes

We may update these terms as the service changes. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms.
