Writers Read is a celebration of writers, writing, and the spoken word. Live, staged events throughout the year are organized around a single broad topic that invite a range of expression. Readings are professionally recorded for web-streaming, and audio recordings are edited for broadcasts and podcasts. Writers Read was conceived in 2008 when founders Edward McCann and Richard Kollath began developing an idea for a website featuring video clips of writers reading their work aloud. With a searchable database offering access to biographies, videos, backlists – and direct links to each writer’s own website — Ed and Richard imagined Writers Read as a showcase for both established and emerging writers.
