What Walletmoth Studios makes

Topics documentary, skateboarding, art, surfing, resilience

Murray Siple is a Canadian documentary filmmaker, visual artist, and adaptive surfer based on Salt Spring Island. His home includes fully equipped studios for video, sculpture, and painting, spaces where he continues to push the edge of creative expression and physical possibility. A former pioneer in extreme sports filmmaking, Siple rose to prominence in the 1990s, capturing the underground worlds of skateboarding and snowboarding. His acclaimed documentary Carts of Darkness (2008) cemented his place as a bold, socially engaged storyteller. Today, Siple’s multidisciplinary practice bridges raw physicality and refined aesthetics, exploring themes of resilience, freedom, and transformation. As an adaptive surfer, he travels the world independently to access waves and stories that challenge perceptions of disability.
