Uusikuu is a Finnish–German world music ensemble reinterpreting the Vintage Sounds of Finland for contemporary audiences. Founded in 2006, the group approaches Finnish dance music of the 1930s–60s — tango, humppa, waltz, jenkka and early swing — as living repertoire. Arranged for a compact acoustic “Kleinorchester”, traditional songs and original compositions meet in a sound shaped by international touring. With six albums on Nordic Notes, Uusikuu has entered the World Music Charts Europe Top 20, won the German Rock & Pop Award (Best World Music Album), and been nominated for the German Record Critics’ Award and the Eiserner Eversteiner Prize. The ensemble performs regularly across Germany, Finland, Switzerland and the UK, collaborating internationally from club stages to symphonic projects.
