Amateur comes from the Latin amator, one who loves. This channel is for listeners who have loved classical music for most of their lives, often without anyone nearby who shared it. Each video takes one piece, composer or listening experience and looks at why it holds on to people: what happens in the music, and what it does to the person hearing it. I started piano at seven, picked up the double bass in high school, and went on to study it at music school. After a few years playing in orchestras I stepped away from music for a long time, and came back to it at the piano. New videos about once a month.
