What Searching for History makes

Topics archaeology, history, lost places, exploring, abandoned

Searching for History explores the places where the past is still hiding in the landscape. I’m an archaeologist who visits forgotten communities, abandoned railroads, cemeteries, ruins, battlefields, archaeological sites, historic towns, and other places with stories waiting to be uncovered. Using historic maps, photographs, documents, archaeology, and clues still visible on the ground, I try to reconstruct what happened and bring vanished places back to life. Most adventures take me through the Pacific Northwest, the American West and Southwest, and Europe. If you enjoy forgotten history, archaeology, ruins, historic maps, lost places, and exploring the past on location, subscribe and join me on Searching for History.
