SARA is a Finnish alternative metal band combining crushing low-tuned riffs, atmospheric textures and emotionally charged vocals with a strong sense of melody. Dark, cinematic and melancholic, the band’s sound moves between heaviness and fragile, expansive atmospheres. Founded in 1995 in Kaskinen, Finland, SARA have continuously evolved throughout their three-decade career. Drawing inspiration from influential metal acts such as Deftones, Tool and Nine Inch Nails the band has developed a distinctive sonic identity built around intensity, atmosphere, and frontman Joa Korhonen’s distinctive vocals. Their 10th studio album, Hallava, was released on January 17th, 2025, earning an Emma Award nomination in the Metal Album of the Year category. The album was also selected as Critics’ Album of the Year 2025 by Finnish music magazines Soundi and Inferno, further reinforcing SARA’s enduring presence in Finland’s alternative metal scene.
