IGCAT (International Institute of Gastronomy, Culture, Arts, and Tourism) is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering local communities by promoting and protecting regional food, culture, arts, and sustainable tourism. Founded in 2010, IGCAT collaborates with regional stakeholder consortiums and a global network of experts to develop strategies that support balanced and responsible regional development. IGCAT provides the European and World Region of Gastronomy Award, recognizing regions that commit to sustainable food systems and cultural heritage. Additionally, IGCAT has launched initiatives such as the European Young Chef Award, World Food Gift Challenge, Top Websites for Foodie Travelers Award, and Food Film Menu. Through these initiatives, IGCAT raises awareness of the need to protect local food traditions and natural assets, balancing against the pressures of globalization while fostering economic resilience, community well-being, and environmental sustainability.
