The mission of the University of Maryland (UMD) School of Public Health (SPH) is to promote and protect the health and well-being of citizens of Maryland, the nation and the world through interdisciplinary education, research, public policy and practice. We are the only accredited School of Public Health at a public university in the mid-atlantic region. Located in the unique DC area, the SPH is proud of our diverse student body. In the last three years, we have exhibited greater student diversity than UMD as whole, and for the 2011-12 school year, our enrollment was 47% from underrepresented racial and ethnic groups.
